The Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program is a state and federally funded program which provides free screening for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer. A woman is eligible for the MBCHP if she is between 40 and 64; has no insurance or insurance with limited coverage or high deductibles; and her income falls within the MBCHP guidelines. For those women who qualify, the MBCHP will pay for annual mammograms, breast exams, Pap tests, pelvic exams (internal exams), and limited diagnostic and follow-up services. Sister Study www.sisterstudy.org
If your sister had breast cancer, then the Sister Study needs your help. Click here to learn more about this important study sponsored by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The study will recruit 50,000 women, ages 35-74, whose sisters have had breast cancer. The researchers are particularly interested in recruiting more senior women and women from minority groups.

Maine Breast Cancer Coalition is dedicated to promoting knowledge
about breast cancer and quality care.

  • MBCC sponsors free-to-the-public educational events and workshops such as the Dr. Susan Love lectures and the Silent Spring Institute's "Breast Cancer and the Environment" program.
  • MBCC generates public awareness about breast cancer and the need for early detection. We distribute free informational material at health care facilities, women's centers, and women's health-related events across the state.
