A woman is eligible for the MBCHP if she is between 40 and 64; has no insurance or insurance with limited coverage or high deductibles; and her income falls within the MBCHP guidelines. For those women who qualify, the MBCHP will pay for annual mammograms, breast exams, Pap tests, pelvic exams (internal exams), and limited diagnostic and follow-up services. The study will recruit 50,000 women, ages 35-74, whose sisters have had breast cancer. The researchers are particularly interested in recruiting more senior women and women from minority groups. Maine Breast Cancer Coalition is dedicated to promoting knowledge about breast cancer and quality care. - MBCC sponsors free-to-the-public educational events and workshops such as the Dr. Susan Love lectures and the Silent Spring Institute's "Breast Cancer and the Environment" program.
